Yet another interesting week in the metaverse is behind us. There were a few stories throughout the week that really caught our attention. Read on for details on the biggest stories in the NFT world over the past week. 

Orange Financial to Launch Farming Treasury

Early this week, a multichain yield farming treasury called Orange Finance announced its public mint date. The public mint will take place on February 1st. Orange Financial aims to revolutionize the yield farming and NFT industry by offering stablecoin rewards to its holders for yield farming. 

To do so, Orange Financial created a list of DeFi assets and farming opportunities. The compounding and harvesting is all taken care of by the treasury. The treasury then routes returns back to holders via USD Coin. 

This is an interesting take as most yield farming results in native coins, rather than stablecoins. This gives users the opportunity to receive real value rather than a volatile crypto asset for their yield farming efforts. 

Tennis Australia Commits to More NFTs

Tennis Australia made headlines this week after announcing that it will be expanding its NFT efforts. The expansion will surround this year’s Australian Open and Tennis Australia says it’s in the NFT space for the long haul regardless of the ups and downs in the crypto industry. 

Last year, the Australian Open launched the AO Artball collection with 6,776 NFTs sold as part of the program. This year, an additional 2,454 AO Artball NFTs will be added to the collection. 

Yuga Labs Unveils Skill-Based Game

Finally, Yuga Labs is no stranger to the NFT industry. It’s the team behind one of the most popular NFT collections of all time, the Bored Ape Yacht Club, or BAYC. In an announcement earlier this week, Yuga Labs announced that it will be expanding its NFT ecosystem with a free mint and a skill-based game. 

The NFT drop involves multiple steps, but will start on January 17th. The start will be the opportunity for a free mint for existing BAYC and Mutant Ape Yacht Club holders. This mint will be for “Sewer Passes.”

Sewer Passes are Yuga Labs’ key for unlocking a skill-based game it calls Dookey Dash – a game that opens for gameplay on January 18th.
