Today proved to be yet another sizzling hot day in the NFT sector with quite a bit of big news from some big names. Here are the top stories:
GameStop Dives Into NFTs
In the first Meta Masters Media News exclusive for today, titled “GameStop Dives Into NFTs,” we chat about the fact that GameStop, one of the world’s leading gaming and entertainment companies, published a new job post outlining the fact that it plans on diving into the NFT arena. In the job post, the gaming company said that it’s looking for a unique individual that has the ability to help the company enter the new age of gaming.
The company outlined the many benefits of NFTs in the post as well, pointing to the fact that NFTs in gaming bring ownership to the consumers that play the games. Moreover, they give game creators a way to better communicate with their audience, helping to meet the needs and desires of the people that buy their games.
Most importantly, in the responsibilities section of the job posting, GameStop said the best candidate would be able to help drive the latest and greatest in game developers to the GameStop platform, suggesting that it will be launching an NFT platform of its own relatively soon and pointing to the fact that major brands are diving into the industry.
Considering GameStops’ clout in the gaming industry, and the potential for NFTs to represent a pivotal shift in that industry, it only makes sense that the company is diving in.
NFTs Are Bringing Social Equality to the World of Art
In this article, Meta Masters Media News exclusive, titled “NFTS Are Bringing Social Equality to the World of Art,” we start by discussing the art industry as a whole, and how artists need approval from centralized authority like high-end galleries and museums to make it big in the industry as it stands. Unfortunately, this system has proven to be a system of inequality, one that has led to 85% of artwork in United States museums being created by white and 87% of the works in these museums being created by men.
In today’s world, social inequalities just aren’t cutting it anymore, whether they be in the work environment, or in art. NFTs are helping to create the change in the world of art.
In fact, some of the most successful people in the NFT space are women and people of color. For example, the World of Women is one of the most successful NFT projects to date, and it was designed to empower women. Not to mention, a young ethiopian national that now live in the UK by the name of Benyamin Ahmed, has solidified his position in the space as one of the youngest artists to make it big.
The fact of the matter is that without a central authority dictating the art that’s valuable, the community makes the decision as to value, and in the NFT community, it’s quickly becoming clear that race, gender, color, or creed hold no bearing on your ability to make it big.

In an interview, the company’s Chief Product Officer, Scott Belsky, said that the functionality will be built into the platform with a “prepare as NFT” option, an option that’s expected to launch in the preview version by the end of this month.
